Weclome to Chronicles of Paper, an RPG by Mountrussmore. There is no limit to the number of characters you may possess, and you have complete freedom as far as storyline goes. There are a few things that are important to this RPG, so let's get down to them...
Leveling up
The level system has been improved from the last one. Basically, you gain 5 HP, 5 FP, 5 SP, 1 Attack, and 1 Defense every level (max level of 50). Every 10 levels, you will gain a new FP/SP slot along with the normal stat upgrades. Every 5 levels, you may gain a new slot for Items along with the original stat increases.
In order to level up, you must gain CPU/Human Battle Points. Each CPU Battle is worth 1 Battle Point, and each Human Battle is worth 2 Battle Points (unless stated otherwise). To level up, you need 10 CPU Battle Points or 6 Human Battle Points.
Every 10th level, the number of points needed will increase. At each 10th, 10 extra CPU Battle points, and 2 extra Human Battle points will be added. For example, at level 10, characters will need to fight 20 CPU Battles or 4 Human Battles. It goes all the way up until level 50.
IMPORTANT: YOU AUTOMATICALLY HEAL AFTER EACH BATTLE! I JUST WANTED TO LET EVERYBODY KNOW INCASE OF ANY CONFUSION! WE'VE ALWAYS DONE THAT IN COP, EVEN ON GAMEFAQS!!!!
IMPORTANT: BATTLES SHOULD BE RESTRICTED TO 1 VS. 1 OR 2 VS. 2. THERE ARE NO MORE THREE VS. THREE BATTLES BECAUSE IT'S A MAJOR HEADACHE TO HAVE SIX PEOPLE UPDATING A BATTLE...
Moves
In CoP, you have moves for attacking. As stated, you gain two new ones every 10th level. Please keep in mind that shortchanging your characters of the available six does not mean you can gain them before the 10th levels.
Another thing you can do is go on quests to obtain powerful moves. These new moves you learn from storyline plots can replace old moves that aren't needed at later stages of the game. If you are unsure about new moves, you can always ask the CoP mods. Please remember that what they say is the FINAL straw. Arguing with them is not allowed.
Status effects are a part of any RPG. With Status Effects, you have your weak ones and your strong ones. Certain status effects are very broken if used, so I've come up with a system for them. Status effects cannot stack (you can't have a burn x2 and hit them for another one and count it as a burn x4). Further, you are not permitted to use status effects twice in a row.
Poison: Low amount of FP as it's pretty weak. I'd say around 5-6.
Burn: Again, same with the poison, around 5-8 FP if only 2-3 turns.
Frozen: If it is an immediate effect, the FP/SP level should be around 10-12 F, and it shouldn't exceed more than two turns. You must also have some form of it not working. A chance of an immediate effect working cannot exceed more than 30%. If it's not an immediate effect, it must have an equal chance of working. It cannot exceed more than a 50% chance.
Stun: If it is an immediate effect, the FP/SP level should be around 10-12, and it shouldn't exceed two turns. You must also have some form of it not working. A chance of an immediate effect working cannot exceed more than 30%. If it's not an immediate effect, it must have a low chance of working. It cannot exceed more than a 50% chance.
Characters
The characters are the heart and soul of every RPG. For Chronicles of Paper, you will be given a template to follow when creating your characters. All characters must follow this template, and they must be approved by a CoP Mod/Co Mod before the player may begin making updates. Here is the basic template for creating a character:
Name: Your Character's Name
Affiliation: Who your character is assoicated with
Coins: The number of coins you have. These coins are used to pay for items. You get the first 5 items free and 100 coins to start. After that, you must pay for everything and find coins on your own.
Level: Your Character's level (all characters start at 1 and cap at 50)
HP: Your Character's Health Points (No more than 20 to start; caps at 270 without HP boosting items).
FP: Your Character's Flower Points (No more than 20 to start; caps at 270 without FP boosting items).
SP: Your Character's Special Points (No more than 20 to start; caps at 270 without FP boosting items).
Attack: Your Character's Attack (No more than 3 to start; caps at 53 without Attack boosting items).
Defense: Your Character's Defense (No more than 2 to start; caps at 52 without Defense boosting items).
Equipment: Any Equipment your Character may have (No more than three pieces of armor can be equipped at any time).
Items: The number of Items your Character has (No more than 5 to start; caps at 15 item slots).
Regular Attack: Your Character's normal attack (does not cost FP/SP and can never pierce Defense; is affected by Defense).
FPs: The number of FPs your Character has (FP/SP total must come to no more than 6; FPs are affected by Defense).
SPs: The number of SPs your Character has (FP/SP total must come to no more than 6; SPs are not affected by Defense).
Number of CPU Battles Won: The number of CPU Battles your character was victorious in. Note, if your character was dead, they do not get the CPU Battle Point.
Number of CPU Battles Lost: The number of CPU Battles your character lost in. Note, if your character is dead at the end of the battle, they receive a CPU Loss.
Number of Human Battle Won: The number of Human Battles your character was victorious in. Note, if your character was dead, they do not get the Human Battle Point.
Number of CPU Human Battles Lost: The number Human Battles your character lost in. Note, if your character was dead, they receive a Human Loss.
Bio: Your Character's backstory and anything else we need to know about them. This is your chance to explain your character and get creative.
This is the basic Character Template. Once you create a character by these guidelines, the CoP Mod/Co-mods can approve or deny your character. They may also ask you to make changes based on an overpowered character or not. Do not argue with them, and just make the necessary changes for approval.
CoP Mod/Co-mods
Chronicles of Paper does offer complete freedom; however, there is a fine line between freedom and being ridiculously overpowered. To prevent this, there will be a War Mod (me), and several Co-mods. These Co-mods and I will make sure your character isn't ridiculously overpowered or if you aren't being fair with your updates. If you refuse to cooperate with the rulings of the CoP Mod/Co-mods, you will receive a warning. If you very uncooperative, you have the possibility of getting kicked out of CoP. Please consider your choices carefully. The first three people to post their characters in the CoP main topic will become Co-mods.
Updates
There is no limit to the number of times you are allowed to update; however, try to keep your posts in a timely fashion. Don't update four posts in a row and spam the topic. There is an Edit Post feature that allows you to make corrections if necessary. Spamming CoP is grounds for a warning by the CoP Mod/Co-mods.
Topics
CoP is a massive RPG and has many different aspects of it. Because of this, there will be several topics for different things. It is important that you post things in their respective topics, as we don't want a bunch of stuff cluttering the main topic. Only updates will be posted in the main topic. There will be a topic for Characters, Battles, and other things. Please do not post stuff in the wrong topics. If you do, your post will be deleted from the topic, and you will receive a warning.
These are the basic rules. If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, I encourage you to ask them. Try to refrain from making your own topics and cluttering up the board. I will be happy to answer questions here. Happy playing .
